Catch American Mechanical on The Hampton Roads Show on Sept. 11

Mark your calendar for tomorrow and tune in to WAVY TV-10 at 11 a.m. American Mechanical will make a guest appearance on The Hampton Roads Show on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, to talk about preparing your home heating system for the upcoming fall and winter weather. Louise Gordon, our vice president of operations at American Mechanical, will be on the morning TV talk show to discuss some of the ways to save energy and money by using heat pumps and scheduling routine service for home heating systems. Regular maintenance, changing your air filter and checking for gaps around windows and doors can also save energy. Here are a few extra tips to help you to save money on your home heating bills this fall and winter. Test your heating system before it gets cold outside to make sure it’s in working condition. This is also a good time to change the air filter and check the details of your HVAC maintenance contract. Consider setting your heating system a few degrees lower and pulling out long-sleeved shirts and extra blankets. Verify where all of your heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) thermostats are in the house, especially if you haven’t lived there very long. Sometimes a hidden or forgotten thermostat that regulates a separate area of the house or apartment may be turned off or switched to the air conditioning mode while the heating system is trying to operate. As a leading Hampton Roads heating and cooling, plumbing and electrical contractor, we hope to help people find ways to improve their home heating systems and notice the clues that it’s time for repairs or improvements. Spending a little bit of time and effort in preventive maintenance now will improve the quality and prolong the life of your home heating and cooling systems. We want to make Hampton Roads a safer and greener community.
