How Does It Work?

Depending on the type of timer you purchase, you may have a few options for how you light your home. Some timers work similar to a kitchen timer, allowing you to turn a dial to determine how long you want your lights to remain on for, typically in two hour increments up to eight hours.

Other holiday lighting timers utilize an internal clock, allowing you to set specific times for your indoor or outdoor lights to turn on and shut off. For example, if you want your lights to remain on from 5:00 p.m. and shut off at midnight, simply set your timer for 5:00 p.m. and midnight!

Holiday lighting timers are fairly inexpensive (approximate prices range anywhere from $10 – $30) and can be purchased at almost any hardware store, including; Lowe’s, Home Depot, as well as places like Walmart and Sears.
